Ranking Records—The 10 Best LPs of 1979

After running through my fave record releases of the fabulous year of 1978, I realized that the next year of 1979 may have been my second favorite year ever for music. So, here are 10 albums from that year that spent a lot of time on my turntable back then and still do today. It was quite surprising to me that all but one of these artists was not from England!

If you were around back then or have gone back in time to discover the great music of the last century, let me know what records from 1979 are special to you.

Please, please, show me your support and hit the “Like” and “Subscribe” buttons on YouTube and share this on your socials. Thanks, and looking forward to keeping you all busy!

    How about best albums 1980.?

  3. Fantastic. But Mike, Mike. You can’t leave out “Drums and Wires” by XTC. It’s got to be right up there, close to number 1. 🙂

    1. I came close to making my list! I promise. I am under-weighted in terms of listening to XTC though – my bad!
