Caitlin Rose - Grand Ole Opry 4

My visiting relatives and I made a trip to see the always entertaining Grand Ole Opry out at the Grand Old Opry House. Can you believe that 40 years have passed since the Opry left the Ryman for their new bigger, modern home?

Well, we had the pleasant surprise of seeing one of my favorite young artists, Miss Caitlin Rose, making her debut on the Opry. Rose was truly honored and humbled by the moment. So much so that she probably spent way too much time talking about her excitement during her brief segment. As it has since 1925, the tightly-paced show was broadcast live on WSM radio.

The young Texan, who now lives in Nashville, was warmly introduced by Opry member Jeannie Seely. Rose then stood in the famous wooden circle cut from the Ryman stage to sing two numbers: “Sinful Wishing Well” from her debut record, Own Side Now, and “Goin’ Away Party,” a song written by Cindy Walker and made famous by Bob Wills.

The crowd loved young Caitlin, and after her first number, they warmly acknowledged her Opry debut with a standing ovation. I firmly agree with Ms. Seely who said she was sure Miss Rose would be back on the Opry stage. As I have said before about Caitlin Rose, she has the makings of a true star.
