Who would have ever thought that Music City would produce great Indie-Pop tracks like the recent single from the talented Eloah Jones? Get your groove on and check out “Dancing on My Own.” Eloah will soon been releasing a debut self-titled EP and her next single, a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge,” is coming out November 19.
About the upcoming single, Jones had this to say: “This song really speaks to me, and the way I felt when I first moved to Nashville. I was only 18, alone, without much money or friends in the area. Just the city around me.” Here’s a pre-link to her brilliant jazz-influenced interpretation of this 1992 rock classic. It’s gorgeous!
Thank you Eloah for spending some time with 11 Questions, and we all look forward to following your exciting musical career!
Where are you from originally, when did you move to Nashville and why?
I’m from the Texas Hill Country originally. I moved here about four years ago. I really just wanted to get out of my small town and be around others who were doing the same thing as me!
What are the first and the last records you bought, and where did you buy them? Were they CD, vinyl or digital?
I honestly don’t remember the first record I bought since I was young. I think it was a CD of “Tear Drops on My Guitar” by Taylor Swift. Ha, ha! The most recent record I bought was a Kiss record at a local vintage store, and I was so excited when I found it! I bought it for my dad It was their album Hotter than Hell.
First and last live concerts that you’ve seen?
First concert I went to was a Guns N’ Roses concert with my dad. The most recent was Banks in 2019. I haven’t been to a live show in a while due to COVID.
Whose star should be added to the Music City Walk of Fame?
Kacey Musgraves!
Where do you go in Nashville for coffee and pizza?
I’m not a coffee drinker, but I do love tea, though. I like to go to Ugly Mugs in East Nashville. For pizza, Five Points, or Italia, also in East!
What’s your favorite record to ever come out of Nashville?
Honestly, Speak Now by Taylor Swift. A classic. Love that woman.
Where’s the best place to eat late night after a show?
I really like going to Lakeside Lounge in East Nashville.
The Bluebird calls and asks you to host an “In the Round.” Pick three local songwriters to join you.
Jillian Lavin, Damian Malnar, and Aaron Bonus.
What are your favorite music venues to play in town?
I haven’t played the High Watt, but I think it’s a cool venue.
Name a musician who you’d like to see move here?
My girl Banks. But she’s a California girl for sure.
Finally, what’s in your musical future?
I just want to continue writing music for those who want to listen. I want to speak through my lyrics.
