Ranking Records—The 10 Best LPs of 2020

Since I am guilty of not listening to enough new music, I hesitated doing a best of for 2020. But on the other hand, there were a few records that I just loved that I couldn’t resist talking about. So, here’s a look at all the 2020 releases I bought narrowed down to the eight that I insist you go ahead and buy if you have not already done so.

And as I say in the video, seeing what I like, tell me what great records from, 2020 that you think I have missed.

  1. Hi Mike. Thanks for another entertaining video.
Totally agree about McCartney III. His voice is going, but it’s still a great record.
I also concur with your ambivalence about Hey Clockface. It feels like a mess, really. Too variable. I don’t like the spoken word songs, or the loud rattly songs (which you liked!) or the old style (1920s?) songs. I only really like the ballads on this, especially The Last Confession of Vivian Worth. I’ve played it 25 times, and I don’t think my view is going to change from here. Disappointing.
Blonde on the Tracks is certainly great. You missed a chance to observe that the title is a mash-up of Blonde on Blonde and Blood on the Tracks. Very clever! Rough and Rowdy Ways is great, of course. I missed that there was a new Ron Sexsmith album. I’m going to check out some of the other things you recommended. Cheers, Dave

  2. Thanks friend, Great to hear from you. Now how did I miss that about Emma?
