It was less than a month ago that I saw Glenn Tilbrook at home in Nashville. Nevertheless, I was thrilled for the opportunity to see another show on his current tour. This time it was at the Jersey Shore Music Mecca known as Asbury Park. In recent times, this poor city has struggled through its rebirth following a long economic decline, most recently with the onslaught of Superstorm Sandy. However, its music scene has received tremendous support throughout. Tonight was no exception.
The Wonder Bar keeps alive the famous local amusement park mural “Tillie” in its signage. It is a small room that this night was nearly full with several hundred Tilbrook fans. The legendary and larger Stone Pony sits just down the street and sponsors the shows at The Wonder Bar.
This night was similar in feel to the Nashville show, but was refreshing since Tilbrook reworks his set list nightly. A slightly shorter show, this one included some different Squeeze songs.
